Проте, успіх будь-якого оперативного втручання залежить не лише від якості проведення самої операції, але і від профілактики післяопераційних ускладнень. Грізними ускладненнями є інфекції області хірургічного втручання. Тут, на відміну від надскладних хірургічних знань і навичок, успіх у лікуванні хворого залежить від простих заходів профілактики інфікування.
Ідеально, коли розуміння цього приходить зі студентських лав. Саме про це говорив керівник напрямку IPC/WASH, лікар-анестезіолог Володимир Лиходієвський на об’єднаному засіданні студентських гуртків кафедр нейрохірургії, радіології та радіаційної медицини і оториноларингології НМУ імені О.О.Богомольця, присвяченому інфекційним ураженням нервової системи.
В своїй інтерактивній лекції, яка була присвячена профілактиці інфекцій області хірургічного втручання, Володимир особливо наголосив, що поряд зі складними заходами, проста гігієна рук є основою профілактики інфекцій, пов’язаних з наданням медичної допомоги. Тож пропонуємо доповнити відомий афоризм про найбрудніше місце в організмі пацієнта: “Яке найбільш брудне місце в організмі людини? Ротова порожнина. А яке ж тоді найбільш брудне місце в організмі лікаря? Руки та телефон”.

This is what the head of the IPC/WASH direction, an anesthesiologist Volodymyr Likhodiievskyi, spoke at the joint meeting of student groups of the departments of neurosurgery, radiology and radiation medicine and otorhinolaryngology of the O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University, dedicated to infectious lesions of the nervous system.
In his interactive lecture, which was dedicated to the prevention of infections in the field of surgical intervention, Volodymyr especially emphasized that, along with complex measures, simple hand hygiene is the basis of the prevention of infections associated with the provision of medical care. So we suggest adding the well-known aphorism about the dirtiest place in the patient’s body: “What is the dirtiest place in the human body? Mouth. And then what is the dirtiest place in a doctor’s body? Hands and phone”.
