Issues of infection control and tackling antibiotic resistance are closely interconnected – it’s important to keep that in mind. That’s why there is always room for improvement in the work of bacteriological laboratories. We’re working in Zaporizhzhia, introducing microscopy after Gram staining (yes, even after more than a hundred years, this method remains one of the fastest ways to detect pathogens, including those associated with hospital-acquired infections), as well as adopting chromogenic media. We’re working on this in partnership with UK-Med Ukraine, with the support of UHF.
